doreen kline photo Hi, I’m Doreen Kline and welcome to my Wedding and Engagement Blog.  I am a digital artist who photographs only weddings and engagement since that is what I love the best.  I live in Fort Myers, Florida and photograph destination beach and exquisite resort weddings from Marco Island, Sanibel, Naples, Captiva to Fort Myers.  My style is very classic and my work has been described as elegant, romantic, gorgeous and amazing.  My personality is easygoing and many couples tell me that they weren’t even aware of me photographing them on their wedding day.  I photograph a limited number of weddings and engagements a year to give your wedding the extra attention needed.  I use only the top of the line albums and products from the best printers that will last a lifetime.

I guarantee that you will be thrilled with your wedding and engagement images or your money back.  With all the stress of the wedding, having an calm, experienced photographer makes all the difference in the world.  Once your wedding is over and the cake has been eaten and the flowers have wilted, your wedding images and wedding album will be the only things that remain forever.  The most important decision you can make is choosing the right artist to tell the story of your wedding day from beginning to end.  Storytelling is my passion and my goal is to capture who you really are and the love you share for generations to come.

Please feel free to look around my blog and website.  If you would like to meet with me I would be happy to show you more of my work and fantastic wedding albums in person.  To contact me please CLICK HERE or call me at 239-823-7784.  I look forward to meeting you and telling your love story for the rest of time.  Thank you, Doreen

chapel by the sea, captiva island bride and groom photoThe Sanctuary Golf Club, Sanibel Island, Florida. Shelly and Mike met in September of 2005 through a mutual friend and their relationship grew as teammates on a kickball team. I had the pleasure of getting to know them better and photograph them in their hometown of Minneapolis, MN last spring. I met their adorable dog Myles who assisted Mike in proposing to Shelly. On New Years Eve 2009, Myles brought Shelly her engagement ring as Mike got down on one knee and proposed. Of course she accepted. They chose Sanibel Island because Mike and his family have been vacationing there for many years.
They chose the Chapel by the Sea on Captiva Island because of the lovely location and intimate setting. The Rev. Thomas E. Nyman performed a wonderful ceremony and then we all walked down the beach path and did the formal wedding photos on the Captiva Island Beach right before sunset. All of the guests and the wedding party were transported to the Sanctuary Golf Club for the wedding reception. The Sanctuary has a fabulous terrace for cocktail hour and the view of the golf course is breathtaking. Gentry Thomas was the DJ and kept all of the guests dancing and entertained all evening. Mike has 4 adorable nieces who were the flowergirls. They were too cute with their matching J Crew dresses and they loved to dance with uncle Mike. It was a wonderful evening and Shelly and Mike were off for a adventurous honeymoon on St John’s, USVI. Congratulations Shelly and Mike!

bride and groom photo at poolside at the pink shell resort, fort myers beachPink Shell Beach Resort, Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Beth and Scott are both firefighters and met through a mutual friend in 2010. They live in Chicago and Scott proposed on top of the ferris wheel at the Navy Pier there. They always wanted a beach wedding so the Pink Shell Resort was perfect. They loved the family friendly resort with the multiple pools and sandy beach and the elegant ballroom. As customary at firefighters weddings, they had a bagpiper playing during their ceremony.  Dr. Dan Lamey was the wedding officiant (239) 272-2947 and he did a fabulous job with a very emotional ceremony that touched everyone deeply.  Afterwards we did all of the beach wedding photography at the waters edge on Fort Myers Beach while the guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers poolside.
Their daughter Mia is adorable and stole the show. She and Scott even had their own special dance at the reception. Congratulations Beth and Scott! To view their wedding slideshow please click on the following link:

Here is an interesting article from Nikki Wagner, a wedding photographer in Erie, PA.  She is responding to a post on Craigslist where a bride was shocked at the price of wedding photography.  In the response below from Nikki Wagner she outlines her costs of running a wedding photography business.  I am posting this because I think people don’t have a good appreciation of all of the costs involved in wedding photography until they read this. wedding rings on christmas ornaments photo at the hideaway beach clubHideaway Beach Club Wedding Photography, Marco Island, Florida.  This week we had the pleasure of photographing Brooke and Phillip’s destination beach wedding at the Hideaway Beach Club on Marco Island.  I love to go to the Hideaway Beach Club, everytime I am there I feel like I am on a private island.  Usually the pool and beach are deserted but this week, because of the Christmas holiday, there were lots of people on the beach and swimming in their fabulous pool.

Brooke and Phillip are from Michigan and have been vacationing on Marco Island for years and love the fun and relaxation that  Marco Island brings.  Phillip proposed on Christmas 2010 so they had a whole year to plan their destination wedding on Marco Island.  The wedding had a fun, layed back and go with the flow beach theme.  Brooke’s dress was a elegant La Sposa of Barcelona mermaid style creation with lace that trickled to the tulle at the bottom.  It had a sweetheart strapless top and she wore flat grecian sandals for the wedding and a pearl necklace with matching earrings.  Pastor Kevin Koenig of the Marco Island Lutheran Church did a wonderful wedding ceremony on the beach.  The flowers were done by the Marco Island Florist and the brides bouquet was a mixture of white roses and orchids.  The centerpieces were a mix of roses, orchids and lilies in pinks and oranges.  Deanna Porto, the wedding co-ordinator of the Hideaway Beach Club did an excellent job of organizing everything.  You can reach Deanna at (239) 394-5555 or email her at  email: dporto@hidewaybeachclub.org   DJ Dominick Buonantuono of Mobile Sound Entertainment did a wonderful job on the beach playing music for the ceremony and entertaining everyone all evening and keeping them dancing.  We work with Dominick all the time on Marco Island and love to work together.  To view the wedding slideshow please click on the following link: Brooke and Phillip’s Destination Wedding at the Hideaway Beach Club

sanibel harbour resort wedding couple photo in the lobby with christmas treeSanibel Harbour Resort Wedding Photography, Fort Myers, Florida.  Yesterday- Christmas morning Diana and Chris were married in a private ceremony aboard the Sanibel Harbour Princess Yacht by Captain Kevin Koughan.  Christmas is Chris’ favorite holiday so he and Diana decided to fly to Florida and spend the holiday in sunny Florida.  It was foggy yesterday morning when I arrived at the resort but by the time we arrived at the Sanibel Harbour Princess for the wedding the fog had burned off and it was perfectly clear.  The wedding took place on the back deck of the yacht and it was a beautiful ceremony.   Diana’s wedding bouquet was done by the Fort Myers Florist.  It was brillant red roses and Chris had a matching boutonniere.  The color was perfect for their Christmas wedding photos. We traveled around the resort after the wedding to do some wedding pictures in some of the fantastic spots at the Sanibel Harbour Resort before Diana and Chris went upstairs to change.  After the wedding they were scheduled to go back out on the Sanibel Harbour Princess for Christmas Brunch.  They are flying back home today to spend the rest of the holidays with their children.  Congratulations Diana and Chris!

marco beach ocean resort wedding couple photo in the gardensMarco Beach Ocean Resort Wedding Photography, Marco Island, Florida.  Erika and Matt are an adorable couple who met at work in 2004.  They live in Virginia and love the beach.  They love the Caribbean and love the white sands and blue waters there.   They chose the Marco Beach Ocean Resort for their destination wedding because of the tropical location and the fantastic sunsets.  They loved that the resort was like being in the Caribbean without leaving the states.  With so many nieces and nephews, they wanted an easily accessible resort that was tropical and romantic, and family friendly.

Erika looked lovely in her elegant, strapless wedding gown.  She and Matt saw each other in a “first glance” session before the wedding and then we traveled around the resort taking romantic photos of them with the unique backdrop of the Marco Beach Ocean Resort.  Their formal family wedding pictures were done in the Marco Beach Ocean Resort Gardens and then we went to the beach for the ceremony.  Patti Fueffinger of Wedding on an Island was the officiant and did a wonderful ceremony.  DJ Dominick Buonantuono of Mobile Sound Entertainment did a great job with music for the beach wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour and reception.  Marco Island Florist did all the flowers with blue hydrangeas and cream colored roses for Erika’s bouquet, blue hydrangeas and yellow Asiatic lilies for the bridesmaids bouquets.  Everything matched perfectly with the dark blue bridesmaids dresses and groomsmens jackets.  For the reception there were white and blue hydrangeas in glass cube vases and glass cylinders with sand, shells and a white candle with yellow dendrobium orchid blooms.

Chris Shook, Matt’s brother in law and Heather Howdyshell, Erika’s cousin gave very entertaining, funny toasts to the couple.  After the wonderful surf and turf dinner at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort we walked downstairs for some dramatically lit wedding photos in architecture and columns in the garden.  It was a wonderful wedding and the guests danced until late in the evening to help them celebrate.  Congratulations to Erika and Matt!

Fort Myers Engagement Photography, Bowditch Beach, Fort Myers, Florida.  Laura and Larry met us at Fort Myers Beach this week to do their engagement session at sunset.  We started at the pier at Fort Myers Beach and then traveled to Bowditch Beach which we had all to ourselves for engagement photos.  We had lots of fun at the beach and the sunset was just amazing.  I love how the sailboats come by at just the right moments for our beach engagement photos.  There was also a poinsetta tree at Time Square on Fort Myers Beach so we did some photos for their Christmas cards at the same time.  Laura and Larry are getting married at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club in May and we are very excited to be doing their wedding too.  For Christmas, Miromar Lakes has all of their palm trees lit up in blue lights so Laura wanted some photos there.  We left Fort Myers Beach after sunset and traveled to the fountain at Miromar Lakes for more engagement photos after dark.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from their engagement session.  Congratulations Laura and Larry- we can’t wait until the wedding.fort myers beach engagement photo at sunset with sailboat

The Inn on Fifth Hotel, Naples, Florida.  We were very excited when Janis and Laura told us they were checking in to the Inn on Fifth Hotel for their engagement session photo weekend.  I love to see all the Christmas lights on Fifth Avenue in Naples at Christmas.  They were spectacular this year and it was perfect timing for Laura and Janis’ Christmas Card photos too.  They had their 3 outfits co-ordinated so we did photos in 3 locations and ended up back at the Inn on Fifth after dark so we could photograph them in their red outfits with all of the Christmas decorations and lights.   We started out at the Garden of Hope, where there are lots of interesting photo opportunities and backdrops.  It started to sprinkle for just a few moments but we had our trusty umbrella with us which ended up being an adorable picture too.  The Naples Pier and Naples beach was our second location for sunset and the sky was perfect.  Laura and Janis are so fun to be with, we all had a great time together.  Our last stop was back at the Inn on Fifth and we finished the evening with some Christmas photos in the hotel and then went out to the courtyard at Mc Cabe’s Irish Pub and Grill.  We were all laughing hysterically when the snowman decided to eject his carrot nose onto the pavement.  It was a night to remember……   We are looking forward to Janis and Laura’s Wedding at Gateway Country Club in September.  Congratulations Janis and Laura!engagement photo at the garden of hope in naples, florida
